Apps built with Cursor

Is your Cursor app leaking anything?

Cursor is a code editor with AI built in, so you can write an app by asking for changes. That's a fast way to ship. But speed makes it easy to miss what your live site shows the public.

rooGBotVC scans the live site like a visitor would, then tells you what it found.

How problems happen in an app built with Cursor

Every web app has a part that runs in the visitor's browser. That code is public. Anyone can read it with View Source or DevTools.

If a secret key ends up in that code, it is leaked. This can happen when a key is pasted into a front-end file, or saved in an environment variable that gets sent to the browser (names that start with NEXT_PUBLIC_, VITE_ or REACT_APP_ usually are).

Other common gaps are missing security headers, files like /.env left open, and missing SEO basics like a page title or sitemap.

What our scan checks

  • Leaked secret keys in the JavaScript your site sends to browsers
  • Open /.env and /.git files, and public source maps
  • Security headers, HTTPS and the http:// to https:// redirect
  • SEO basics: title, description, share tags, H1, robots.txt and sitemap.xml

Paste this into your AI builder
In my AI app builder (Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Replit, v0 or similar):
My OpenAI API key is exposed in my front-end JavaScript.
1. Move every OpenAI call to a server-side function or API route. Read the key from a server-only environment variable.
2. Remove the key from all client-side files and from any env variable that starts with NEXT_PUBLIC_, VITE_ or REACT_APP_ (those get shipped to the browser).
3. Make sure the browser calls my own server/API route, and only the server talks to the outside service.
4. Show me every file you changed.
(I will make a new key in the provider's dashboard and turn off the old one myself.)

The full report gives a prompt like this for every issue it finds, written for your site.
